The Blazin' Squad story kicked off 3 years ago in ten teenage bedrooms across North London when school-mates MC Freek, Melo-d, Strider, Reepa, Krazy, Spike-e, Flava, Rocky B, Kenzie and DJ Tommy B got together and started mixing up some havoc of their own.
aving just completed their GCSEs, Blazin' Squad are now concentrating on recording their debut album. "Our first single 'Crossroads' is a cover of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony hit," says DJ Tommy B. "I heard the track on MTV and took it to the boys. They thought it was wicked.
Listing their influences as everyone from Eminem, Heartless Crew and DMX to stand-out pop acts like Sugababes, Blue and Usher, Blazin' Squad are ready to transcend any obvious lyrical and musical expectations. "We're mixing every style of music," says Krazy. "Some of our songs are about us, others are just proper love songs. We're rapping about everything from super heroes to bank robbers - stuff that our mates can relate to. It's pop with the sharpest edge.Blazin' Squad met years ago on the grounds of Highams Park School in North East London. "We're no manufactured act" states Flava. "We started when we were thirteen years-old." Before Blazin' Squad, there were two crews: Blazin' Squad and The Incredible Crew.
